Ngorongoro Notes & Elgon Extension - 8 Day Wildlife & Walking Safari

(Arusha, Seneto, Olmoti Crater, Elgon)

DAY 1     ARUSHA
Clients are met at their arrival point in Arusha and transferred to their accommodation for pre-adventure briefing and overnight. Town exploration if time allows.
KARAMA LODGE (Dinner)

DAY 2     SENETO
After breakfast we set off for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the village of Seneto., where we set off from the rim of the Crater. We traverse the lush vegetation to our first camp, where we can enjoy a panoramic view across the Crater and perhaps encounters with wildlife. (4.5km – 3.5 hrs)
NGITOTO SUMBATI (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 3     NGITOTO SUMBATI
As we start the day hiking from Ngitoto Sumbati, we cross through the Leiyanai Forest participating in a flora and fauna identification field experience. We reach our camp by late afternoon. (17km – 8 hrs)
ERMAKESENI (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 4     ERMAKESENI
Today we are able to discover the true culture of the Maasai by having the opportunity to enter villages as we hike from Ermakeseni to Nainnokanoka. We are welcomed into bomas

and talk candidly with village members in a bid to exchange our cultures through conversation. (8km – 5 hrs)
NAINOKANOKA (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5     NAINOKANOKA
We set off on our final day hiking with a trek to the top of the Olmoti Crater and a visit to the Munge Waterfalls. The view is breathtaking and the sense of freedom is awesome. We return to a point where our vehicle can take us back to Arusha OR you can continue with the ELGON EXTENSION
KARAMA LODGE/FORT of ELGON (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 6     ELGON (LEMAKARUTI)
From our camp we set off with an armed ranger and donkeys as porters for the six hour hike up the Mountain Wall. We are encouraged by our Maasai guide and along the way we listen to the tales of the Maasai Warriors. We set up camp on the rim of the Crater and build a camp fire as we bed down for the night – warm clothes are essential as we are camping out at 3130m.
ELGON RIM CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 7     ARUSHA
We descend the mountain after breakfast to find our car waiting to transfer us back to Arusha. We pass through the colourful markets of Mto wa Mbu and Kisongo.
KARAMA LODGE (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 8     BEYOND
There is a de-briefing of your experiences and transfer to your Arusha departure point.
