DAY 2 ARUSHA
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast today before setting
off on the beginning of our cultural experience. We

Swahili language lessons and learning about Cultural
Rites of Passage. Return to the lodge late afternoon
for swimming and relaxation before dinner.

Another culture-filled day mixed with a community
feel as we head to the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro
for the Machame Cultural Tourism Program. We are met
by successful women’s groups and take a tour of the
local market and cheese factory followed by a
traditional Chagga lunch. Hopefully we will also be
blessed with a view of Africa’s highest mountain -
and the ‘Snows of Kilimanjaro’.
OUTPOST LODGE (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 4 ARUSHA - TARANGIRE
After an early morning breakfast, the game viewing
section of itinerary begins with a transfer to
Tarangire for flora and fauna field experiences and
an afternoon of Wilderness Walking with a local
guide. We arrive late afternoon to our tented camp.
MARAMBOI TENTED CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 5 TARANGIRE -
SERENGETI
We drive off across the natural migration path of
the inhabitants of Tarangire towards the Crater
Highlands after breakfast, and climb the escarpment
to be met with a sweeping view across the Great Rift
Valley. We continue on to Olduvai Gorge for an
archaeological tale of the Cradle of Mankind and a
lunch box before game driving to our campsite in the
Central Serengeti. We have a BBQ of goat for those
who dare and an evening of stories around the
campfire.
PIMBI CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 6 SERENGETI
After waking up at sunset and enjoying a quick
breakfast, we begin game driving from the camp exit
in search of early morning predator activity around
the kopjes. The dew on the long grasses attracts a
vast array of mammals and birdlife and the coolness
of the early morning keeps them content for us to
stare in awe of the intrinsic behaviours. We return
to the camp for lunch and a midday rest before
setting off again in the afternoon to the hippo pool
or acacia woodland or nearby water sources.
PIMBI CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 7 SERENGETI -
NGORONGORO
We explore the Gol Plains after breakfast en-route
to the Crater Highlands. We arrive to our camp for a
hot lunch before taking a Wilderness Walk with a
Maasai guide to learn the wonders of this area,
returning in time for a sunset to remain forever in
your memory.
SIMBA A CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 8 NGORONGORO - LAKE
EYASI
We enter the crater early morning to take full
advantage of the approximate 120 species of mammals
over 200 species of birdlife and variations of
natural habitats. We venture around the entire floor
before arriving to our lunch spot lakeside. We
depart early afternoon for the scenic transfer to
Lake Eyasi – home of the Hadzabe tribe.
CHEM CHEM SPRING CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 9 LAKE EYASI
Before sunrise we wake to go hunting with the
Hadzabe ‘Bushmen’ – a strenuous task as we walk
miles in search of small mammals with our bow and
poison arrows. We return mid-morning with our
‘hunter-gatherer’ wares and enjoy a well-deserved
brunch at the camp. A rest follows and then we are
able to sit with the village elders and discuss the
current issues of the area and exchange cultural
tales.
CHEM CHEM SPRING CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 10 LAKE EYASI - LAKE
MANYARA
We say good bye to our ‘Bushmen’ friends and return
the Rift Valley floor of Lake Manyara. En-route we

afternoon of game driving the shores of this soda
lake. Our camp is 5 minutes from the National Park

follows in which you can visit the local crafts
markets, restaurants or museum.
OUTPOST LODGE (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 12 ARUSHA
Today the cultural exchange continues as we enter
the tribe of Meru people on the slopes of Mt Meru.
We learn local farming techniques as well as the
harvesting process of coffee; following the process
until we grind and boil a brew for ourselves. A
traditional lunch follows before continuing on to
Lake Duluti for a couple of hours of bird and
reptile watching from our canoes as we paddle the
circumference of the lake.

packing is on the menu after breakfast. As part of
our farewell ceremony we partake in an evening of
‘kanga’ giving and traditional cooking classes
before enjoying the Arusha nightlife – guides still
on hand for assistance.
OUTPOST LODGE (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 14 ARUSHA
A slower morning precedes a visit to Ilkurot
‘Maasai’ Village where we take a tour of the school
and assist in serving the children their daily
porridge. We sing and dance with the children before
being entertained ourselves by the morani (warriors)
– dressed in their stunning cloth and beadwork. We
return to the lodge late afternoon for resting
before enjoying our last evening where we are free
to sample the local cuisine ourselves.
OUTPOST LODGE (Breakfast, Lunch)
DAY 15 ARUSHA & BEYOND
This morning we have an adventure de-briefing
followed by transfer to your Arusha departure point
or JRO for your travel beyond.

**EXTENSION IDEA**
Add the ‘Roof of Africa’ to your itinerary by
joining us on one of our treks on Mt Kilimanjaro – a
true physical and psychological challenge as well as
a great idea for a fundraising – a charity climb.
** CULTURAL CAPER**
Why not heighten your experience by spending
enjoying an extended stay in Ilkurot by teaching in
a Maasai village school – you will learn more than
words can ever tell, sharing teaching ideas and
sharing your time with those in need.
